Use a smaller plate

Having your diner on smaller plate is known to trick your brain into feeling fuller after your meal. So rather than opting for a huge restaurant style plate to serve up your dinner, remember that smaller is better.

Never skip meals

You may be tempted to miss out on breakfast or lunch to try and lose a few pounds but in doing this you will see a dip in your blood sugar level as well as hunger pangs which can mean you give in to those tempting cravings.

Stop eating before you feel full

Most of us have been guilty at some point in our lives of gorging ourselves until we are fit to pop, but this isn’t a great approach. It takes around 20 minutes for your brain to tell your stomach that you are full so try to stop eating once you have the inkling that you have had enough.

Take your time

By eating slowly, you will be making sure that you are chewing everything properly. It is recommended that you chew each mouthful of food 30 times in order to release enough saliva and in turn enzymes needed to break down the food.

Weekly weigh in

Whilst you may be tempted to hop on the scales on a daily basis, this will never give you a true reflection of your weight loss, which can lead you to feel disheartened and maybe even give up. Instead try to weigh yourself at the same time every week in order to get an idea of how you are doing.

Drink plenty

No, we don’t mean wine, drinking plenty of water (6-8 glasses everyday) will ensure that your body is functioning well. Dehydration can also be mistaken for hunger, meaning that you eat more and it can even stave off hunger cravings throughout the day.

Exercise

Seems obvious, but exercise is something that many people overlook when trying to lose weight. Try to plan in time for regular exercise as well as eating well. Short bursts of intensive exercise has been shown to have great results, so rest assured that you don’t need to spend all day at the gym!
